Northwest Hills

Northwest Hills, as its name suggests, lies in the hills to the northwest of central Austin.  Austin style is evident in these custom limestone and brick homes, complete with immaculate lawns and mature trees.  Many homes in Northwest Hills were built in the 1960’s and 70′s, though newer residential developments in the area offer larger, more recently built homes.  Beautiful landscaping is common throughout the area, as are the deer, who frolic with abandon amost everywhere you look.  The best aspects of outdoor living in Northwest Hills, however, showcase the gorgeous Texas hill country views from many homes.  Home prices range from around $400,000 to over $1,000,000.

Northwest Hills is considered to be the area south of Spicewood Springs, north of 2222, east of 360 and west of Mopac. The Northwest Austin Civic Association serves as an advocate for the area to keep residences up on all that is happening.

The western part of Northwest Hills, off of Far West Blvd., offers the highest population density and the chance to see hang-gliders soaring through the skies over Murchison Middle School.  This well-planned community offers both retail and residential space and separates the two with green space. Local restaurants include Mesa Ranch, Mirabelle, Musashino (Austin’s best sushi) and El Arroyo. The Dell Jewish Community Center is also here.

Some of the most highly-acclaimed schools in the Austin Independent School District serves the Northwest Hills community.  Highland Park and Doss are top rated elementary schools,  Murchison for middle school and Anderson for high school.
