With easy access to the rest of Austin, a gorgeous neighborhood and amenities of all sorts just within reach, Milwood has been a good choice for housing since it was developed in the 80’s and 90’s. Running along the north/west side of Hwy 183, Milwood is bordered to the North by Parmer Lane, to the South Duval, East Amherst and the Railroad tracks to the West.
Houses in Milwood are generally entry and mid-level homes on smaller lots. Although prices have increased over the years, most are affordable for first time buyers.
Convenient access to Interstate 35 and Loop 1 (Mo-Pac) makes Milwood an ideal location for those looking to ease their commute to and from work each day. With Parmer Lane as a border, you’re never short of shopping and dining. Go to Cool River Café for a night of dancing. Or spend the day at The Domain shopping til you drop.
The Balcones Park and Pool for residents of all ages and the Milwood Branch Austin Public Library are two great places you’ll enjoy having close by.
Milwood Neighborhood Association plans holiday events like a 4th of July parade and other things for residents that pay a small fee for joining. They also help coordinate volunteers in the neighborhood to work on park and neighborhood projects.
Children in the area attend Summit Elementary, Murchison Middle School and Anderson High School.
