East of Brodie, West of Manchaca, with Davis (Deer) Lane to the north, Slaughter through the middle and Shady Hollow neighborhood to the south lies the neighborhood of Tanglewood Forest.
What’s nice about Tanglewood Forest is that is has recently become convenient to everything. You now have a lot of major retail at Southpark Meadows. Local dining favorites include restaurants like Maudie’s Hacienda for that Tex-Mex fix and a margarita or Sam’s Town Point where you can grab a beer and listen to some music. Want to hit the town? You can be in downtown Austin in 15 minutes. And it is still affordable. Homes were built in the 70′s and 80′s and sell between $150,000 and $300,000.
Besides the pool, area residents enjoy the Mary Moore Park, hike and bike trails and nearby golf courses.
Tanglewood Forest Neighborhood Association was established in 1998 to help maintain the parks and pool and monitor and enforce deed restrictions, neighborhood issues, and community events.
Austin ISD elementary schools are Kocurek and Cowan Elementary, Bailey Middle School and Akins High School
