Austin homes sales are down 27% from September last year according to a recent Austin American Statesman article.  Pending home sales are down 27% as well.  But the median home price in Austin is up 4%!?!  Are prices in Austin really going up in a down market?  The decline in sales is no surprise if you read Turner Residential’s August housing market update, but the key to this dichotomy lies entirely outside of the Austin real estate market.
